We've heard from some NABURs that they'd like to hear more about upcoming events in the feed, so I'll be making more of an effort to do so going forward.
With that in mind, 2021 Grand Mesa Moose Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 31 at Grand Mesa Visitor Center.
Moose weren't always part of Grand Mesa, — the population actually had to be reintroduced in 2005 with moose from Utah. The 2021 Moose Day is meant to educate families on the moose in Grand Mesa, as well as provide a nice family day outside.
Visitor Center Staff Carrie Surber said due to COVID restrictions, everything will take place outside. Events include a scavenger hunt, an educational hike, moose-related games, kits for kids to make antlers, as well as a presentation geared toward adults with some more information about moose conservation and population statistics.
Food won't be provided, but Surber said there's a picnic area near the Visitor Center, and families are welcome to set one up.
