Montrose County School District just announced their COVID plan for this fall this morning: masks are not required, but recommended. The district's spokesperson, Matt Jenkins, told me earlier today that the district could amend the policy if pandemic conditions shift significantly.
This announcement comes amid greater concern about the more-contagious Delta variant and revised CDC guidelines encouraging everyone — vaccinated or not — to mask up inside in areas with high community transmission, which includes Montrose County.
While less than half of eligible people in Montrose County have gotten vaccinated, the district's HR director estimated that at least 65% of district staff have gotten the shot. The district is planning on hosting vaccination clinics and implementing regular testing, both optional.
What do you think about the announcement?
