In the city council election that concluded on Tuesday night, incumbent Doug Glaspell held onto his seat despite a challenge from Paul Arbogast, while Anthony Russo lost to challenger Ed Ulibarri. Two of the seats on the ballot were uncontested, so the incumbents (J. David Reed and Barbara Bynum) will stay on the council.

I dug into the campaign finance data and I found that the candidates spent a total of around $2,300 in this election, compared to over $17,000 in 2020. There were 11 candidates running for three different seats, while there were only six candidates for four seats this time around.

How do you think the election this year compared to the previous one? What did you think about the results?
